TETSUO SAKURAI PROFILE

(BASSIST, COMPOSER, PRODUCER, INSTRUCTOR)

Tetsuo was born in Tokyo. He started to play bass when he was 13 years old. He had been a member of the Japanese band named ”Casiopea” during 1976-1989, ”Jimsaku” with Akira Jimbo during 1990-1998. Now, he is composing and playing his own music as a solo artist with domestic and foreign musicians. He has released 46 CDs with the band and solo titles. Also he made 4 instructional DVDs(VTR) and 7 live DVDs.

He had recorded 19th albums with Casiopea and 11th albums with Jimsaku. After that he has been producing many kind of projects.

The 4th solo album “GENTLE HEARTS” recorded with Greg Howe & Dennis Chambers, released in 2001. The 5th solo album “Cartas do Brasil” released in 2003. It was the self cover vocal album recorded in Rio de Janeiro with Djavan, Ivan Lins, Rosa Passos, Filo Machado, Valeria Oliveira, Tatiana & Nora. Tetsuo made the concert tour with Greg & Dennis in 2004. And he released the”GENTLE HEARTS TOOR 2004″ live CD & DVD in 2005. BRASIL CONNECTION ~feat. Filo Machado~ LIVE CD & DVD were released in 2006 & 2007. ” FAR EAST ” (w/ Rynten Okazaki(acoustic gt.)) 1st CD”IMO” released in 2007. “TETSUJINO” (w/ Kenji Hino(bass)) 1st CD “Double Trouble” released in 2008. The 8th solo CD “My Dear Musiclife” released in 2009. The 4th Instructual DVD “Sakurai Style Slap Bass” released in 2009. “PEGASUS” (w/ Issei Noro(acoustic gt))1st CD & DVD released in 2010. The 9th solo CD “Vital World” recorded Dennis & Greg released in 2010. The 10th solo CD “Talking Bass” (special guest Marcus Miller) released in 2012.
